GDPR: Here's what you need to know

GDPR, which stands for General Data Protection Regulation is the new European Data Protection Regulation that will come into force on 25 May 2018.

The regulation consists of rules on the protection of personal data, allowing European citizens to have complete control over their personal data and simplifying their use for all companies that handle them. The new regulation is part of the European Commission's policies for the development of the digital economy and is intended as a true enabler of the digital market.

Our adherence to the GDPR will allow from the moment it takes effect, a compliant use of the Scaboo platform for you too, right from the start. All the difficulties associated with understanding this new regulation will be just a memory. Because we feel that your trust in the way we handle data is important, we want to share the new functions we have developed to bring our sites in Hire in line with the GDPR:

Specifically, a new "Personal Data" section has been developed containing:

Disclosures, where the administrator can change the content. The customer will be notified whenever there is an update and will be required to accept it

Gestione delle informative

The Consents, where it is possible to view the data of customers who have accepted the disclosures

Gestione dei consensi

Audit Logs, where you can view all actions impacting your customers' personal data such as add, modify, delete events

Gli Audit log

In the site settings you will be given the possibility to indicate a time in months after which privacy consent logs, audit logs and inactive customers will be deleted.

Pulizia dei clienti inattivi da impostazioni

The possibility has also been introduced for customers to easily request the deletion of all their data, just as the regulation requires. We would also like to point out that you will have to prepare the necessary GDPR documentation yourself, and draft material to help you identify the next steps to ensure that your shop complies with the GDPR.

That said, the GDPR is an extremely complicated set of requirements that will apply differently from shop to shop. We recommend talking to a lawyer or data protection expert, especially if you have specific questions about how the GDPR applies to your business.

Protecting privacy is a key element of customer trust; it is a pillar of sustainable digital business development.
